ABOUT THE
PFF SCHOLARSHIP

The PFF FILM FESTIVAL, Japan’s largest competition based independent film festival, began its PFF Scholarship Award in 1984 to assist the recipient in producing a feature film. The Award was first known as the 16mm Film Production Assistance Award but changed its name in its second year to the PFF Scholarship Awards. The Award allows an amateur film director an opportunity to produce a feature film with a professional staff. The Award has given rise to many well-known film directors in the Japanese film industry.
