Born in 1958, Ahmad Yasmin worked in the Malaysian CM (Commercial) industry before making her feature film directional debut with “Rabun” in 2003. Her 2nd film, “Slit Eyes” was awarded at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Her films “Rabun”, “Slit Eyes”, “Gubra” and “Mukhsin” are known as the “Orked Tetralogy” from the fact that all place the character of “Orked” as the protagonist. Ahmad Yasmin met an untimely death at age 51 in 2009 when she suffered a stroke brain hemorrhage.
